Front-end Web Developer

Who you are

• A developer who has experience building custom websites from scratch 
• You build 100% custom themes and don’t start with pre-made templates
• You pride yourself on cleanly written semantic HTML / CSS and stay up to date with modern techniques and ever-evolving web standards
• Have a keen interest in bringing designs to life by adding subtle movements and animations to designs
• Know Liquid like the back of your hand, and are familiar with the Shopify API

What you work in

Given the nature of our business, working with many design teams, we have to work in multiple design platforms. While you are not expected to know them all, the ones we work with the most are: Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Figma. 

We do not regulate the process and tools our developers want to use and applaud exploring and leveraging modern development tools.

Who you’ll work with

We’re a small team and not a corporate ladder. You’ll work directly with the founder and other developers. Very rarely will you ever be responsible for client communication, or be engaged with the client unless you want to be.

Technical Skillset

• HTML, CSS, Liquid, Javascript and PHP
• Proficient understanding custom Shopify (Liquid) theming
• Experience with Javascript frameworks and SVG animations
• Experience with version control using Git
• Excellent troubleshooting capabilities 
• Understanding of SEO principles and site structure, along with site performance / speed 
• Understanding of custom Wordpress theming (ACF and Gutenburg Blocks)

Work Ethic

• Honest
• Self-starter. We do not micromanage and you should not need to be
• Has a desire for continued education and enjoys keeping up with tech industry trends and learning new technologies
• Excellent time management skills
• Knows when to pivot out of the rabbit hole

The Remote Culture

At Kinful, we don’t believe that a work day is an 8 hour straight day. Although we expect you to work a full day, and be available to meet during normal business hours, we do not expect you to be at your desk for 8 straight hours. We encourage long lunches and exercise breaks to break up your day. Night owls should not worry.

We communicate through Slack, track our time with Harvest and spend a lot of time on Google Hangouts...hanging out.

• You used to be a designer, but your left brain won out 
• Experience with Webflow 
• You have other agency experience 
• You’ve built a Shopify App 
• You’ve built a headless website and understand when and when it’s not overkill
